Black And White : Faces

Sweet Day

Went out to Handicraft Market, Sabah Museum, Sabah Art Gallery and Tg. Aru Beach with my Australian friend, Susan Ledsam, a teacher from Tallangatta Secondary College, Victoria. Parts of the Sabah Museum building currently under renovation and the traditional houses of Sabah attracted my attention. It had been almost 15 years since I last went to the traditional houses at Heritage Village and it sure change a lot when I saw it today. I should come back later with my IR camera. We were accompanied by these two sweet kids who wanted to try, feel and touch everything...

Closeup Infrared

For Potraiture Infrared, I love a closeup potrait because of the perfect unblemished skin produced by the infrared filter. A near perfect skin a woman always love and longed for.... :)

With Infrared, the world's colour is yours, the problem is how to find it. Here, apart from Hue/Saturaton and Selective Colours, I played a lot with blending modes and opacity, and still no skintone editing....;D

I dont know why but quite love the pale colour of skintone.... :)

Infrared Me

Sometimes I have a very big problem deciding which colour tone I preferred for each infrared photo processed by me. Sometimes it depends on the mood or situation of the photo, of what feeling it brings when looking at it. And sometimes it seems our mood at the time of processing the infrared photos certainly have some influence on the colour chosen for the photo. Don't you think so ? What do you think?

Which one of these photos below suit you well ? :)

These two photos below done in the middle of the night after I had some good sleep earlier. A strong and more vibrant colours....

And sometimes too much looking at colours makes me want to go back to Black & White...=)

Infrared Panorama

Reviewing, remembering and re-sharpening skills in stitching multiple photos into a single panoramic view. Sometimes we do forgot the steps especially if you havent done in in a long time but a skill once mastered it will never totally disappeared. Adjust exposure, lock and shoot 24 frames.... :)

Simple IR Potrait

An indoor infrared potrait of Deffy using the only available light of pendaflour but is seems it has no effect on the infrared white balance itself. My version of infrared which I am currently using is pulse infrared and basically it needs us to edit the skintone to resemble the true color of human skin.

However in this case, I did not do any editing on the skintone and it still looks acceptable to me , maybe because of the even light that falls on her face and the background. Thats why I can still manage to survive with the high key skintone....

The only thing edited is the color of her hair, eyes and lips with a little tweak on the midtones color balance.

There is another way where you can shoot a model and can get a near original human skintone using a different type of infrared filter and it is called a falsecolor series. Here, you can see a few version of falsecolor series where you can get a SOOC (straight out of camera) infrared photos without any skintone editing. The only thing to be done to achieved the correct skintone is to play with the white balance of the infrared camera. (Thats what Bob Shahrul mentioned to me on falsecolor skintone...thank you sifu...)

the more powerful the photo, the less it makes viewers think about photographic technique, and the more viewers tend to think of the subject matter, with technique forgotten.
