Kembara Sang Dewi

Petikan Coretan Sang Dewi Cinta...
Terimakasih buat Sang Dewi Cinta kerana membenarkan saya menuliskan kisahnya disini...)

======================================================================================================================
" Mencari sesuatu yang hilang. Tiba-tiba ku sedar ianya sudah tidak ada. Selembut bayu ia pergi, sesenyap cahaya ia menghilang. Kenapakah ia hilang begitu sahaja?

" Sang Dewi kehilangan nikmat cinta bak Arjuna kehilangan panahnya.

Nyatalah dia hanya kekasih pelukku
Sampai sini kisah aku dengan nya

Pandang Lihat dan Yakinlah

Terang di Mata, terang di Akal, terang di Hati, terang di Iman...
Tiada Kemuliaan tanpa Keimanan....
Itulah Kebijaksanaan sejati....

Alhamdulillah pasrah ku pada-Nya...

Pandanglah...Lihatlah....Dengan Mata Hatimu...
Yakini itulah kebenarannya...
Sesungguhnya hati yang ikhlas tidak pernah menipu...
walau selalu tertipu...

Ku cuci bersih mataku dengan air mataku sendiri
Sebagaimana para pemimpin mengatakan
” Bersihkan dulu dirimu, lalu pandanglah yang bersih”

Terimakasih Guruku...

Unfinished Love

Kellies Castle is a symbol of Love from William Kellie Smith for his wife Agnes and his son Anthony. The castle construction began in 1915 and soon tragedies started to happen where many workers died as Spanish Flu spread from Europe to Asia. The first world war even slowed the process. Smith went for a trip and died of pneumonia at Portugal in 1926 leaving a heartbroken Agnes and his son. A dead sign that Kellies Castle will never be completed.

The mansion consists of two section, The Kella's House and The Castle itself. The ruined section of the Kella's House brought a truly sad feeling to me. Entering the castle itself you can feel the spacious feeling of emptiness and loneliness in every section as I can imagine Agnes's sadness for her lost love. The beautiful long corridor and beautifully lighted rooms touched my heart as I can almost hear Anthony laughter and footsteps running around. Goshh! This Kellies Castle really took my heart away..

The unfinished love, died away in the ruined bricks of time........arggghhh....

I planned to visit this place again another time as I was not able to 'touch and feel' every inch of the castle since I was here on a job. Will post some of the wedding outdoor shots taken here later.

ku hayati Cinta seteguh rasanya.

Jiwa Yang Sakit

Kiulu Adventure and Photography Outing : The Photography

Photos taken during Adventure and Photography outing arranged by Mr. Lano Lan. After rafting activity we had lunch and started hunting for moments at Kiulu River where almost all villagers who lived along this river were busy with Tagal activities.

Here I tested my Tamron SP90mm which usually used for macro and push it outside its comfort zone in landscape, potrait and candid. Quite good , sharp, good in low light during this activity and nice bokeh too with its f2.8. However I need to constantly move to arrange my composition since it has a very tight frame.

Staged human interest with Lano Lan and his family at Kiulu River

Soft and lovely expression of Kiulu elderly women during this Tagal session.

Sirung is a traditional hat made of rattan/bamboo and usually made in 3 sizes, for children, sumandak (unmarried ladies) and for women age 30 years and above.

Mr. Edward Samunting, an NSTP photographer also covering the tagal activities. A handsome Sabahan man. :))

One of addictive activities at Kiulu River is feeding, touching, playing with the Malaysian Mahseer or locally known as Kelah.

The calmness of Kiulu River but always be careful as it is dangerous for those who cannot swim. The shallow part of the river as seen here in lighter yellow colour already as deep as my height.

Two locals waited for Kelah fishes to be trapped in their fish net. This is the break of Tagal session where villagers are allowed to catch fishes at this time. Tagal is a concept to protect the river environment where fishing is probihited along certain river except on Buka Tagal season.

Villagers collected the fishes from the net together in a team spirit of One Malaysia.

All fishes collected and brought to a small hall where all the fishes weighted and divided among the villagers with Tagal membership. Gong, a musical instrument was played briefly before session began to show that it was a big event.

A young man showed fishes caught in the fish net

An obviously eye catching young man with large tattoo on his back and shoulder.
And a stylish hair too.

Kiulu Adventure and Photography Outing : The Adventure

A wonderful and stress relieving activities of white water rafting at Kiulu River with one of my photography sifu (teacher) Mr Lano Lan and 5 other photographers, Meg, Clare, Jigie, Ray and Sylvia on 26 October 2011.

Kiulu River is located at Kampung Pukak, Kiulu and about one hour drive from Kota Kinabalu which approximately 42 km in distance. The furthest rafting distance is 15 kilometres when the water is high and 7 kilometers in normal water level. The water at this time quite low, calm stream and without much rough incident but quite a relaxing journey by just enjoying the scenery along the river and jumping into the water soothing myself in the cold water.

All attention to the famous person in Kiulu River...our metering sifu Lano :))

Ready to take off. Last pose in dry mode before entering water :)

The adventure begins..
-----
Row, row, row your boat...
Gently down the stream...
Ops there's Sylvia already pointing her lens...
Dont forget to show your determine face.......

"Go, Ray Go...Biar malu-malu Jangan buat malu....."
Jigie punya falsafah...hahahaha

Ohhh Yesssss....dbusssshhhh!!! The fun of hitting the large stone in a corner of rough river...

Now why I dont pretend and let myself fall into the river.....off you go pedal...I am jumping in..!!

Aaahhh.....the beauty of floating in the cold water of Kiulu....sioknyaaaaaa

One of the addictive activities in Kiulu River - Feeding, touching, playing with the Kelah fishes

Siok owh berendam sambil pegang kamera di bawah panas matahari...
mana boleh cari di bathtub rumah kan..?? :D

Girl, when I look at you
You look through me
Like I'm not even there
I try not to give up, to be strong but
I'm afraid to say I'm scared
I can't find the place
Your heart is hiding
I'm no quitter but I'm tired of fighting

The Original Feel With Ary

Its been weeks since I last pressed the shutter after the incident where my car was stolen three weeks ago and found two weeks ago. It took some time for me to adjust and stabilize my traumatic feeling to really picked up my camera and started shooting. Only infrared able to start me up and here I was trying to picked up the pieces left some time ago.

Looking at my infrared camera with 'back to basic' feeling I have this strange feeling of wanting to produce an original look of infrared potraiture. So, here are my infrared editing works without the standard basic swap channel. I just played around in my Capture NX software with hue and selection colours in CS3.

The Pulserian Eyes

Blue eyes and blue hair are the trademark of pulse infrared photos. I only applied some basic digital make up to her lips, cheek and eyes. The rest...other than cropping, you can tell that it is directly straight out of camera. :)

Eyes : Windows To A Woman Soul

Dont Make Me Stop Loving You

And I'll give you all my pieces broken
In your hands, there's nothing that you can't fix
My heart is frayed, my scars are open
So put me back together now, stitch by stitch
Put me back together now, stitch by stitch......

Infrared Batavia Girl

Infrared Falsecolour series is another version of infrared with a low cut off value of IR rays and allowing more visible light into the sensor, thus creating a near normal skincolour. However, the choices of colour is limited by each version of falsecolour filters manufactured and not as flexible as true infrared. Falsecolour is suitable for potrait photography where the colour of skintone can be adjusted using the white balance and minimal post processing for final touch up.

Kelulut

This Hymenoptera insect or Kelulut (local name) or Trigona sp(scientific name) is a stingless bee from Apidae family. This bee is quite unique where each unit cells in its nest is not in a shape of hexagon as other bee familites. The honey is taste quite sour and this kelulut valued not by its honey but by its propolis. The propolis formed as a black wax and contains high antibacterial properties.

Dont you think the nest looks quite yummy ?

The crispy but tough non-hexagon nest of Kelulut underneath a banana leaf

Notice the pollen under its feet?

Terminator on the move..with blurry mind...:)

Daily routine of a Kelulut. This flower must contains very sweet liquids as ants can be seen here all over this flowers.

This is not a Kelulut but another different and bigger bee roaming around.

Original Scent of Pulse Infrared

Original Pulse Infrared without skintone editing but with slight digital make up touch...The distinct pale colour of skintone is the unique and prominet feature of an infrared image with a cut off value infrared ray between 600nm and 800nm depends on the manufacturer's specification.

Another version of Infrared where more visible light allowed in the camera sensor which called Falsecolour has cut off value below 600nm. It means we can get almost natural colour of human skintone by playing with the camera white balance. See more samples from different versions of infrared at MyInfrared.com.

Personally, I love the original infrared colour of skintone, hair and iris in potrait photography. In pulse infrared it gives you this romantic blue colour in the iris, wavy blues of hair and bluish pale skintone. A tightly framed potrait would emphasize more on the features of the subject and this is where infrared can yield the variant looks of potrait. Usually the pale bluish colour of skintone which is not preferrable by many can be edited to bring out a more acceptable skin colour.

If I wanted normal colour looks of a potrait then I will shoot in visible light. Infrared, obviously is different and what is different should stay different. If we try to levelling the differences to the same standard as visible light image then what is the point of shooting in Infrared ?
The choice is yours.... :)

Normal Vs Infrared

Visible Light Photography
Nikon D90 with Tamron SP90mm f2.8

With normal photography, a potrait will reveal the personality of that person by the means of composition, colour, light and expression. Most of the time visible colour photography brings the true colour of life and conveying the message exactly as what you see on the photos. Blue skies tells you stories of sunny day, red flowers gives you the feeling of love, green grass inviting you to enjoy a brisk walk under the evening sun, and the emerald colour of the lake urging you to feel the softness of the water. It touches all the five senses in us.

In potrait above, true colours give the strength and compliments to Ruby's personalities and beauty. She looks fresh, confident, strong, determine, seductive yet well-mannered.

Pulse Infrared Photography
Nikon D80 with Nikkor 18-105mm

Infrared Photography release a different touch and feeling to the photo, to the audience. Infrared successfully caught the attention of people or photographers who loves art, loves something out of ordinary, a dreamer by heart, sensitive to inner expression. With Infrared, anything that seems boring, uninspiring, too humble or too ordinary will emerge with a new look that surely makes you turn your head twice.

Here, with infrared, we are looking at more than physical characteristic of Ruby. We are seeing beyond her, her inner beauty and the whole feeling or aura surrounding her. The colours choosen made us believe of her softness, sweetness, gracefulness, long-lasting kindness, timeless affection and modesty. For me, infrared divulge the sixth sense perception.

What do you think ? Can you feel the differences?
Whatever people may think and even though I am crazy with infrared,
still I love BOTH versions....! The choice is always yours... :)

The Light

Photoshoot session with my sister's friends on the fourth day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Taman Hiburan Jalil Alip, Sandakan, Sabah. I have not been in this park since my early secondary school and I totally forgot what it looked like. We did not went inside the park but lingering at the three lakes within the area looking for the right spot.

That was when I noticed this georgeous, beautiful light of evening sun shining through the leaves and between palm trees. Instantly I realized how could I missed this beauty all this time by not practising what I already know. A knowing without feeling, without impact. It was only recently that I started to really look and observe how the natural light controls everything, how the light shapes the day, how the light touches the mood. Suddenly what sifu Rabani's said and taught really made sense, grabbed my inner understanding, with a blow. It certainly not the camera, not the models or subject but deeper inside the photographer's ability to 'see' and deliver. No wonder he started us with macro photography.... :)

I love the backlighted hair of Ruby. It made her glowing, outlining her from the background. How to shoot a backlit potrait? Just shoot into the sun, not directly but slightly angled, move the light source out of the frame and find a way to light up the model's face or it will be dark.

A warmth light in the late evening, a cozy feeling, calming a unstable heart....:))

Beautiful Ruby

How could we as human would be so arrogant, contented with ourselves when everything is not ours but borrowed from God...? We know but we always forgot. Alhamdulillah for the opportunity to see...HE is everywhere....look closely and you will see HIM.....
